“ This place is one of my favorite places it has great family memories and I'll keep coming as long as the chavela glass stays ice cold ”
“ It's been a long while since I have been to Tlaquepaque. This was jammed packed in the past, but on the night we went, it wasn't that busy. I got the combo #11 with Chile Relleno, Burrito with chile verde, chicken enchilada with rice and beans. Everything tasted great. The price was under $20. Our service was good. The only negative was the music was so loud it made it difficult to hear the conversation that was going on at our table. ”
“ This has been our go-to spot for dinner whenever we're craving Mexican food for years and years. We come for the food, not the ambiance. The atmosphere is okay, nothing special and it kind of feels dirty. The staff are nice, but the service has definitely gone down across the years due to the restaurant being severely understaffed. There's often many tables with dishes left there from previous diners and you'll likely have to flag down your server if you need anything. For the food, we love the carnitas! It's the reason why we keep coming back. They're delicious, tender, and crispy. My go-to order is a carnitas quesadilla with a side of rice - super tasty! Their chips and salsa are always really good too. ”
“ Okay so when this place first opened a very long time ago lol. This was the spot they would have huge lines . They are famous for their Chavelas. Which is a cold beer with lime and salt on the rim in a huge cold glass . A super Chavela has tequila . You also have a choice of light or dark beer. My parents still love this place so whenever I'm in town they like to bring me here . Inside it's a little dated noting fancy . Service is okay it could be faster but they are friendly. The food is still very good to me . I kinda outgrown the Chavelas since I drink more of a craft beer now a days but I will still have one here and there . They also have a great aguas de Horchata . They bring out complementary chips and salsa to your table and waters. My favorite is the combination quesadilla which has cheese, bacon, bell peppers, and mushrooms so good ! It also comes with some sour cream, pico de gallo and guacamole on the side . The prices are very affordable, and the sizes are very generous. I know a lot of new Mexican places have opened in San Jose but this one I still has a sweet spot for since I have memories coming with friends and family here. So I would definitely be back. ”
“ This has been on my list ever since a friend recommended it. It's not much to look at and is dingy inside but they do serve some good authentic Mexican food or so I am told. + points for playing some classic Vincente Fernandez. The chavela was plentiful and refreshing to get started and went well with the complimentary tortilla chips. The chilleno relleno was my favorite item. The rice and beans were good too. The chicken quesadilla and enchilada were ok. On the negative side, they messed up both of our orders. ”
